Majorca Bound! ...in the beginning.

Adam and Stephanie Jane Goodfellow, alias The Goodfellows were professional entertainers based in Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire. A little disillusioned with the Live Entertainment scene in Northern England, weary of having to carry heavy amplification from gig to gig, having to travel long distances to get reasonable fees and realising that their ability to continue in this fashion could be limited, they pondered their professional future.

Although Adam had worked abroad before, both in Spain, and aboard Cruise Ships, Stephanie still carried an ambition to work further afield, and holiday visits to the Caribbean and Mediterranean only served to increase this desire.

During a holiday in Majorca in 2002 they were in contact with an Entertainment Agency who showed an interest in working their act on the Mediterranean Island, and this first kindled the idea that, even with their young son Steven (aged 7 at the time) it might still be possible to earn good money in idyllic surroundings without disrupting their family too much. The deal with the Agent was that they would pay the transport over to Mallorca from the UK, provide 2 bedroomed accommodation and guarantee a minimum of 4 nights a week work at € 200 a night for the months of May to October mainly in 4* and 5* Hotels around the South West of the Island. At this stage it was envisaged that sons Shaun and Greg, both aged 17 and both going through Catering College in Bridlington would be unable to accompany them, at least in the beginning.

As usual with life however, you open one door and there are several others in front of you, and serious consideration had to be given to many matters, such as would they keep their house on in Bridlington, would Steven be able to spend 6 months in school in Spain, and then 6 months in UK, would the Agent be entitled to work you 7 nights a week, child minding etc etc. While the basic idea was attractive, there were too many imponderables.
